Meet Karli / Dj K Chedda of Tempo Collective - Camp Rover Conference 2024 Sponsor

After over a decade of experience entertaining Winnipeg and beyond, Tempo Collective hit the ground running as a fully realized, community-focused business in 2023.

They are proudly woman-owned and operated, and are enthusiastically committed to using the power of music to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive city.

Tempo Collective is out here to become the go-to option for people and organizations seeking authentic, immersive music experiences that foster community, inspire positive change, and promote social equity. They also want to bring everyone along for the ride and have the most fun doing it.

Here’s a little more about Karli (she/her) of Tempo Collective through a little Get-to-know Our Sponsors interview.

What is the hardest part about what you do?

Nothing guaranteed in the entertainment world.

What is the all-time dream part of your job? The thing you still pinch yourself that you get to do? And, tell the people how often you actually get to do it.

Getting to be a part of everyone's most special days and celebrations. Being able to bring joy and music that suits them and their stories to the day!

If you could tell your Day 1 starting-a-biz-self one thing what would it be?

Support everyone around you and they will support you. Lift each other up and you'll feel that love come back.

Someone wants to get into being a DJ . What advice - from an expert - would have saved you a lot of time, sweat, and tears?

Don't let other people tell you how to do it. Take advice but put your own flair on everything you do. It's what will make your brand special and have your own blend.

Fun fact about you or your biz?

I didn't mean to become a DJ. A gf asked if I would join her for the DJ academy that legend Mama Cutsworth put on and I'm not one to say no very often. I have almost worked every wknd for the last 9 years! I only launched Tempo Collective late last year and the name was inspired by one of my fav artists Lizzo's song. I called it a collective because I have always felt better about working as a team. I love how much you can accomplish with so many talented folks around you.

Fav book? Fav show? All your time go to movies while working?

Book- Tuesdays with Morrie. Show- Homeland Podcast. The daily Movie- Beautiful Mind.

Closing thoughts for the Camp Rover Community?

One of my favourite things to do in the world is to walk into a room of humans I've never met and to learn their stories. Excited to meet some new folks and learn all about their talents in this world.
