What is the hardest part about what you do?
The hardest part? Keeping all the projects in line (lucky for me this is also where I thrive). We work on anywhere from 10-30+ projects at the same time (all in different industries and different stages of our process). So sometimes it can be a lot to manage. I have like 3 different colour-coordinated calendars to keep it all on track - haha!
What is the all-time dream part of your job? The thing you still pinch yourself that you get to do? And, tell the people how often you actually get to do it.
I LOVE being on set! When we're on a shoot and seeing the project, the concept, that we worked on so hard on, come together - it's surreal. Especially when the project is a larger campaign with lots of moving parts (art, wardrobe, talent, lighting, sound - the list goes on). Seeing everyone do what they specialize in and make the vision come to life, it's awesome. Our team is on-set quite frequently but I don't get to go quite as often as they do. But when the opportunity comes up I definitely go (even if it's just to snap some BTS photos).
If you could tell your Day 1 starting-a-biz-self one thing what would it be?
It never is too late!! ! I moved over from a completely different industry and took a chance on a job in a field I only dreamt of working in. And now I'm over two years in and haven't looked back!
Someone wants to get into production. What advice - from an expert - would have saved you a lot of time, sweat, and tears?
Someone wants to get into commercial video production.....I'd say get involved in the video production community here in Winnipeg. Everyone knows everyone and they are all super supportive. Generally, people just want to see others succeed and follow their passion - especially in this field. And don't be afraid to ask questions! Everyone starts somewhere.
Fun fact about you or your biz?
Fun fact about Enjoy Creative...well everyone in the office is obsessed with two things: snacks and bananagrams. We've seriously considered making a spec ad for bananagrams in the past, haha!
Fav book? Fav show? All your time go to movies while working?
My all time go-to movie is When Harry Met Sally. Although I wouldn't be able to watch it while working, I get sucked in every time haha.
