Meet Our Panelists: Victoria of Miss Millie’s Flower Farm
Miss Millie’s Flower Farm is the cutest place to go for a stroll in the woods, pets some kitties, pick some flowers, sit by the water in the sun, or - when they’re on - go to a workshop.
We are so excited to have Victoria a part of our Flower Friend Panel for Camp Rover Conference 2024.
Here’s a bit more on Victoria and the farm, through a little interview to get to know her.
What is the hardest part about what you do?
Growing flowers in our climate. Short springs and short summers make it difficult to grow flowers to their peak optimization. It is also a challenge to grow organically with the ecosystem.
What is the all-time dream part of your job? The thing you still pinch yourself that you get to do? And, tell the people how often you actually get to do it.
Also growing flowers! When you actually get that perfect stem length and flawless bloom its the best feeling. Also the next best feeling is the joy that our space brings others, it really makes it worth all the blood sweat and tears when you hear someone say coming to our farm was the highlight of their summer or made their week.
If you could tell your Day 1, starting a biz self one thing what would it be?
Don't try to grow everything all at once.
Someone wants to get into Flower Farming. What advice - from an expert - would have saved you a lot of time, sweat, and tears?
Again, don't try to grow everything all at once, haha. As tempting as it is to try everything, it can become very overwhelming to manage many different species along with the unpredictability of Mother Nature. Make sure that however you are marketing your flowers that it is also aligns with your why.
Fun fact about you?
I have moved 24 times in my life.
Fav book? Fav show? Your All-time go-to movie while working?
I couldn't choose one in particular, but I love period pieces! I don't ever read books unless they are about growing flowers and managing soil.
Any closing thoughts for the Camp Rover Community?
I am really excited to be a part of this community, as having the right community has always played a large role in shaping who I am today.
