Janelle is one of the sweetest people I (Amanda) have ever met. We connected at a Networking Event and I knew right away I was going to fall in love with her soul. We haven’t even known each other for a year and I can’t say enough wonderful things about her heart, her work, and her love for helping others and supporting her community.

We are so excited to have Janelle Lagassé (she/her) of Digital Darling as part of our Panel for Camp Rover Conference 2024.

Here’s a bit more on Janelle through a little interview to get to know her.

What is the hardest part about what you do?

I have ADHD so.... everything that's not creative lol. Back-end paperwork, answering emails, tackling taxes... not for me.

What is the all-time dream part of your job? The thing you still pinch yourself that you get to do? And, tell the people how often you actually get to do it.

My favourite part of what I do is creative collaboration with a passionate client! When we create content together from planning to filming, if you're passionate I find it so much easier to get inspired! If we are planning an event I love that Day-of RUSH! I love seeing a vision come to life.

If you could tell your Day 1, starting a biz self one thing what would it be?

It’s okay to make mistakes. One mistake does not erase all the good you've done. You are learning and you are human. I love you.

Someone wants to get into content creation & executive planning. What advice - from an expert - would have saved you a lot of time, sweat, and tears?

Not everyone is a potential client. Choose clients who align with your values and spark your creativity. Quality of work over quantity of work.

Fun fact about you?

I’m launching a podcast with my dear friend Christine Morin! It's called "Darling,You Inspire Me!" and it focuses on ADHD and all the crazy shit that goes along with it! The conversation often turns to sex so that's fun - LOL!

Fav book? Fav show? Your All-time go-to movie while working?

My all time favourite comfort show is The Mindy Project. I own over 50 cookbooks and flipping through them is so mediative for me. I love poetry, especially Rupi Kaur. Favourite background noise while working is "Why Won't You Date Me?" a Nicole Byer podcast. OBSESSED with everything she does!

Any closing thoughts for the Camp Rover Community?

I am SO looking foreword to Camp Rover. I truly think that the creative community in Manitoba is SO strong, but we are often solitary creatures. The energy in that room is going to be incredible and I cant wait to soak it all up!
