Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I’m Lauren (she/her) and I'm a floral designer that specializes in modern, garden-inspired designs for weddings.
What is your why? - Why do you create? What do you love about creating?
I left a horrible job with no backup plan, and was promptly offered a surprise job working at a florist shop. It turned out that I loved it, and decided to make it my career! But I wanted to work for myself, and knew that I wasn't the best employee. I needed all the responsibility, all the credit, all the failures to fall on my shoulders.
If you could give your 16-year-old self some advice what would it be?
Take your time. Learn from other people's mistakes. Don't worry about knowing everything all at once. Don't put something off if it can be done right away.
Do you still get scared in your biz? (Making moves, going in new directions, trying new services, etc)
Of course.
What is one management support you can't live without?
Just good old checklists!
How do you feed your creativity?
lol. This was actually my goal for 2023, to cultivate creativity and give it time. Well I haven't exactly been able to do that yet but it's still my goal.
